Installing mods - client

Game version notice

This guide may have been written for an earlier version of Valheim. Some of the information (file paths, panel option names, commands) may no longer match the current state of the game.

Valheim is a survival game that has gained significant popularity recently. One of the reasons players love this game is its modding community. In this guide I will cover the steps you need to take to add mods to Valheim.

info

Keep in mind that adding mods to the game can affect its stability, so before adding a lot of mods it is worth making sure the game runs correctly.

Step-by-step installation

Step 1: Download and install BepInEx. This is a program that allows mods to be loaded into Valheim. You can download it from: https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/denikson/BepInExPack_Valheim/. After downloading, extract the files into the Valheim folder.

Step 2: Download mods. You can download mods from many different websites, such as https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim or https://valheim.thunderstore.io/. After downloading the mods, extract them and place them in the BepInEx/plugins folder, inside the Valheim game folder.

Step 3: Launch the game. After installing BepInEx and the mods, launch the game. If everything was installed correctly, the mod should load automatically.

tip

If a mod does not work correctly, check whether it was added to the BepInEx/plugins folder in the Valheim folder. You can also review the comments on the page you downloaded the mod from to find out whether other users had similar problems.

Summary

  1. Download and install BepInEx.
  2. Download mods and place them in the BepInEx/plugins folder, inside the Valheim folder.
  3. Launch the game and check whether the mod works correctly.
